Businesses in 2022 need to have a website. If you’ve gotten that far, you’ve at least followed the right path to get here. But, are all websites built the same? No!

So, here are 3 things you should consider when looking for your next website developer.

1) What is their creative process?
It seems like a super simple question that may not need to be addressed; however, not all marketing agencies are alike. We find that one of the first places we know if we are a good fit for clients is if they are communicative and open to a process that is collaborative. After building websites for more than 10 years, we know what makes a website look good, and function like it’s supposed to. BUT–that knowledge has to meet your field-specific expertise and your needs.

We are nimble enough to adjust project timelines, scale, and content strategies (photos, videos, and more) to meet our clients needs. And, we know that our best work comes from working together with our clients, not forcing a one-size-fits-some solution their direction.

2) Can they help you get people there?
A website is nothing but a tool–whether you need it to help show what your business is capable of doing, capture interested and qualified leads, showcase your brand–it really doesn’t matter how great your site is if they will do nothing to help people find your site.

In other words, if your web developer can’t help you drive traffic to your site (or if they don’t propose advertising strategies to do that which are measurable and show positive return on investment), you might want to look elsewhere.

At Observant Media we have pivoted our web development strategy to only take on website projects going forward that allow us to offer SEO and paid search advertising strategies to your project.

3) Are they willing to support their work? And for how long?
Having a beautiful site is great! Especially if you know how to update your information as needed. But what if you don’t? We know that many (if not most) businesses we work with will need some extra training to master their website.

That’s why we offer packages with 30/60/or 90 days of free support built in to your contract.

Don’t have time to work on your site? We have a maintenance plan for you, too. To be frank–we’re most interested in working with teams that are interested in making their sites work for them–an up-to-date site (with proper SEO and SEM) is the only way to keep folks coming back to your site. But we are more than happy to have as large or as small of a part in that content strategy as you need.

If you are looking for someone to help you with your website, we hope you’ll consider Observant Media. And, if you’re stuck with a website that you think is underperforming, we offer 30-minute consults for free to help you figure out if your current website can help you do the trick.
